Fireproof Home Safe

As I watched our home burn to the ground I was glad that I had listened to my wife when she had told me to replace our old outdated home safe with one of the new fireproof home safes that were also waterproof – the water from the firemen’s hoses was pouring onto the burning walls. Or at least I hoped it was the right decision I had a large quantity of money from my business and important papers in there, including my household insurance policy, and I just hoped that I had picked the right model of fireproof home safes.

There were just ashes left when we decided to go to a local hotel to get some sleep and they were too hot for us to check the fireproof home safes contents but the police assured us they would be there the rest of the night and that our things that were left would be safe till then.

We had shopped around for fireproof home safes only the month before. My wife ha been urging me to work out which of the fireproof home safes was best for our requirements for months and it had taken me till then to cave and listen to her and I am glad I did. You see we have our own business and there are times when we have to leave large quantities of cash inside the fireproof home safes protected cavity and also the important household and business documents.

So one Saturday we had set out to look at fireproof home safes to find one that would fit our purposes and our budget. It had taken all day but by the time we had looked at over a dozen different types of fireproof home safes we had a number of good fireproof home safes to choose from and from those we picked the best.

There were wall fireproof homes safes and floor fireproof home safes, large fireproof home safes and small fireproof home safes. Some fireproof home safes had ratings for high temperatures and other fireproof home safes would start to melt if the outside temperature rose a couple of degrees. So we purchased the one of the fireproof home safes that we had chosen and went home to wait for the installer to arrive. We had decided that we would sink it into the floor for added protection and we needed a fireproof home safes professional to do that. It was also one of the larger fireproof home safes and pretty heavy and needed two guys to lift.

The pro’s were then when we arrived and they had installed the safe within two hours and I felt like it was a job well done – and besides it made my wife happy, she no longer had to worry and we could both relax. I figured we would never need the fireproof home safes waterproof and fire capacity – we had purchased one with a high rating but better to be safe than sorry they say and we definitely had “the” safe.

The day before the fire we had a big sale at the shop and our takings had been a record high. Being a Saturday and closing our doors two hours later than usual we had a rather unusually large sum of money that we couldn’t deposit into the bank until Monday. So after finishing tidying the store with our staff we headed off home to put our feet up tired after a very hectic and busy day.

We arrived home at 7pm and the family voted for home delivery pizza. We sat eating Hawaiian and Meat Lovers pizza less than an hour later and I fell asleep on the couch in front of the TV at 8.30. My wife woke me at 10 (she said she wanted to let me sleep but I suspect she fell asleep as well) and we headed off to bed only to be woken at 1am by the smoke alarm.

There was a fire downstairs and it had taken hold of the wooden structure by the time the alarms woke us up. We had just enough time to grab the two teenagers and ourselves, run downstairs and outside before the whole building was engulfed in flames. Shaken we welcomed the arrival of the fire brigade but there was nothing they could do except put the flames out and stop it from spreading to other homes – there was no chance of saving our house. My wife quietly wept as she watched. The house had originally been her parents and she had grown up there so many fond memories were going up in smoke before her eyes.

When we arrived at the house when it was daylight we were stunned by the ruin before us. We wondered whether the fireproof homes safes advertised capacity had meant that it had survived the fire with the contents intact – they were even more important than ever we had some rebuilding to do.

The fire chief came up to me and told me that they had checked the fireproof home safes condition and it would be safe in about 30 minutes to access it – he said that it looked fine. It was black on the outside but intact.

He also told us that it looked like faulty wiring in the kitchen had caused the fire and that we had been very lucky that we had smoke alarms in place and had survived and then he left us to our thoughts. I couldn’t look at my wife she had been asking me to do something about the wiring and I had been putting it off – boy did I regret that now.
